The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)  has appointed Mr. Mazen Shaqoura as the Regional Representative for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region as of 1 February 2023.

He comes with over 25 years of experience in human rights and has extensive knowledge of international law and political affairs with the United Nations, in conflict contexts in the Middle East and Africa.  

In his previous incarnations, Mr. Shaqoura was deployed in Tunis, Bahrain, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Lebanon and Sudan.

Mr. Shaqoura is fluent in Arabic, English and French.

عين مكتب مفوض الأمم المتحدة السامي لحقوق الإنسان السيد مازن شقورة ممثّلاً إقليميّاً لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا اعتبارًا من 1 فبراير 2023. 

يتمتع السيّد شقّورة بخبرة تزيد عن 25 عامًا في مجال حقوق الإنسان ولديه معرفة واسعة بالقانون الدولي والشؤون السياسية مع الأمم المتحدة، منها في مناطق الصراعات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا. 

وكان السيّد شقّورة قد شغل مناصب عدّة في المفوّضيّة منها في تونس والبحرين والأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة ولبنان والسودان. 

يجيد السيد شقّورة اللغات العربية والإنجليزية والفرنسية.
